Envy Exteriors promotes the use of organics in
association with our landscape maintenance program. There are
many abstract benefits to using organics to fertilize and
control pests, but we focus on the direct benefits that your
property will receive. As the “green” movement strengthens, the
general public wants to learn how we can do what is most
ecological correct to protect our resources for future
generations. Organics are just that. It
is important to understand organics and how they operate in
relation to synthetics. Organics strengthen the structure of
your soils. They allow your soil to have an increased water
holding capacity. This, in turn, creates increased root mass by
suspending water in the top soil, allowing it to be readily
available to the plant when needed. An increased root mass
grants the plant or tree more absorption area where it can
receive the necessary nutrients from the soil.
More Nutrients = Stronger Plants
As the plants become healthier, they are able
to fend off most pests and disease on their hold. Remember,
plants are inherently healthy. If your property has most
recently been treating with synthetics, it could take up the 3
years to detoxify. Regular use of organic fertilizers and pest
control will further your property’s ability to maximize the
nutrients and microorganisms embedded.
Organic
Fertilization
Organic fertilizers provide your property with
the highest nutrition possible. The most prevalent qualities of
an organic fertilizer are:
- Multiple sources of nutrients within the
organic program
- 100 % slow release, non-burning
- Consistent absorption rate
- Vast array of minerals
- Dependable food source for beneficial
microbes
By providing high levels of nutrition, the
microorganisms within the soil with flourish. This leads to high
populations of earthworms and other beneficial creatures that
assist in resisting soil compaction. The organics fertilizers
possess a more complex chemical composition which allows them to
offer a residual effect. What is left behind is the ever
important Nitrogen-Phosphorus-Potassium mix that all plant
material need. No additional fillers or salts prevalent in
synthetics.
The high quality organics that Envy Exteriors
recommends possess the characteristics. Lower grade products can
carry Potassium Chlorite and Poultry bi-products, which can be
detrimental to your plant’s health.
Pest and Disease Control
The basis of an organic program is to
strengthen your plants and lawn to the level that they will be
able to fight off pests and disease on their own. This is
achieved by committing to a regular treatment of organics.
Synthetic treatments can cause a diminished population of
beneficial insects. Most insects have a purpose to fulfill
within the balance of our ecological system. The few
non-beneficial insects can be deterred by organic products and
move on to another location. In rare cases, an infestation may
occur, requiring the use of a powerful synthetic. Returning to
organics is important, as it will allow your property to reset
the its natural balance.
Weed Control
Most weeds can be controlled through organic
methods. It is important to monitor your soil conditions to be
sure the chemical balance is correct for what you are growing.
As mentioned previously, healthy plants fend off most pests. A
dense lawn will choke out any weeds that my infiltrate it. Plant
density will create shade, which is not conducive to weed
development, in most cases. Proper nutrition can greatly reduce
weeds in the first year of an organic program. |
