The lorenz Project
The homeowners wanted a clean, modern backyard that felt luxurious but functional, something that flowed seamlessly with their new home while maximizing usable space. Our goal was to create a resort-style environment that blended water, fire, hardscape, and greenery, while ensuring proper drainage, irrigation, and low-maintenance design.
This newly built home in Porter, Texas, presented a blank canvas with an opportunity to design and construct a fully integrated backyard retreat from the ground up. The Lorenz Project combines a modern plunge-style pool, custom outdoor living features, layered landscaping, lighting, drainage, and irrigation into one cohesive outdoor environment designed for both daily enjoyment and long-term performance.

One of the most unique features of this pool is the integrated pool bench with eight spa jets installed directly into the wall. This allows the homeowners to enjoy spa-style hydrotherapy inside the pool itself, eliminating the need for a separate spa while maximizing comfort and space. The surrounding patio features a neutral, light-tone spray (cool) deck, keeping the area comfortable underfoot and visually cohesive.

The custom fire pit was designed to complement the pool and serve as a focal point for evening gatherings.

We designed and built a custom L-shaped outdoor kitchen that balances functionality with a sleek, modern aesthetic. This kitchen was designed not just for entertaining, but for everyday use.

Landscaping, Lighting & Hardscape Details
The landscaping was intentionally layered to soften the hardscape while maintaining clean lines and low maintenance. The result is a landscape that feels intentional, polished, and easy to maintain.

Eagleston Holly trees provide structure, privacy, and evergreen color.

Trees are accented with landscape lighting, creating dramatic nighttime views.

A bullrock buffer separates the pool deck from planting beds to keep the patio clean.

Raised landscape beds are retained with light gray stacked stone, offering both aesthetic appeal and functional separation from the lawn to minimize maintenance needs.
Drainage & Irrigation Integration
Unlike many pool companies, Envy Exteriors is a state-licensed irrigation contractor, allowing us to design and modify irrigation systems in-house and install a state-of-the-art drainage system. This ensures the backyard performs just as well behind the scenes as it does visually.

We engineered a custom drainage system beneath the patio with the Pool overflow and gutter downspouts tied together so that all water is directed straight to the street, minimizing potential drainage issues.

Irrigation was modified to properly serve the new pool layout and landscaping plant needs.
